Delhi’s street food isn’t just about eating — it’s an experience, blending flavors, traditions, and emotions into every bite.

🧂 Part 1: Chaat — A Tangy, Sweet, and Spicy Magic

🍴 Ingredients

Boiled potatoes – 2

Roasted cumin powder – 1 tsp

Red chili powder – ½ tsp

Black salt – as per taste

Whisked curd (yogurt) – ½ cup

Tamarind chutney – 2 tbsp

Green chutney – 2 tbsp

Sev or papdi – for garnish

Finely chopped onion and coriander – small amount

1. Cut the boiled potatoes into small cubes.
2. Add black salt, roasted cumin powder, and red chili powder. Mix well.
3. Add curd, tamarind chutney, and green chutney on top.
4. Garnish with sev, papdi, onion, and coriander leaves.

🧄 Ingredients for Chole (Chickpeas Curry)

Chickpeas (Kabuli Chana) – 1 cup

Onion – 2 (finely chopped)

Tomato – 2 (finely chopped)

Ginger-garlic paste – 1 tbsp

Chana masala – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp

Red chili powder – ½ tsp

Salt – to taste

Oil – 2 tbsp

Fresh coriander – for garnish


🍳 Method

1. Soak chickpeas overnight and boil them until soft.
2. Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions until golden brown.
3. Add tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste, and all the spices.
4. Cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
5. Add the boiled chickpeas and simmer on low heat for 10–15 minutes.
6. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.

🍞 Ingredients for Bhature

All-purpose flour (maida) – 2 cups

Semolina (sooji) – 2 tbsp

Curd – ¼ cup

Salt – as per taste

Baking soda – ¼ tsp

Oil – for frying

1. In a bowl, mix flour, semolina, curd, salt, and baking soda to make a soft dough.
2. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 2–3 hours.
3. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them out.
4. Deep-fry in hot oil until they puff up and turn golden brown.
5. Serve hot with spicy chole and sliced onions.
