Illegal Operations Under Fake Boards, Political Influence and Human Rights Labels — Administration Under Scanner After Woman’s Death

Narkatiaganj, West Champaran:

The shadowy network of quack doctors and illegally run hospitals in Narkatiaganj has once again been exposed. Following the death of Priyanka Devi of Chaturbhujwa village during treatment at the so-called Emergency Hospital, the health department sealed the facility. However, the incident has raised serious questions about the efficiency and accountability of the local administration and healthcare system.

Emergency Hospital Thrived on Fake Identity

Large signboards outside the hospital displayed names of multiple doctors along with fake degrees such as MBBS, DGO and MS, complete with registration numbers. From the outside, the hospital looked like a modern multi-specialty centre.

But the departmental investigation revealed that the institution was being operated entirely illegally.

The probe report states that the hospital used:

• Political party affiliations,
• Names of “National Human Rights” bodies, and
• Stolen identities of reputed doctors,

to create a false sense of trust among poor and unsuspecting patients.

Sealed Once Before — Then How Did It Reopen?

Sources confirmed that the same hospital had been sealed earlier on September 3, 2021. Despite that, the operator Saddam Hussain restarted the hospital by misusing political influence and human-rights branding.
It was during this illegal re-operation that Priyanka Devi lost her life — a tragedy that finally blew the lid off the racket.

Murder Case Registered, Accused on the Run

The victim’s mother, Musammat Suhana Devi, filed an FIR on January 6 at Shikarpur Police Station accusing the hospital operator of murder. Since the incident, all doctors and staff linked to the hospital have absconded. Joint police and health department teams are conducting raids to trace them.

Investigation Report Sent to District Headquarters

Deputy Superintendent of Health Dr. Sanjeev Kumar stated that after Priyanka Devi’s death on January 5, the hospital was sealed immediately and a detailed investigation report was forwarded to the Civil Surgeon and district headquarters.

The report contains evidence regarding:

• Fake signboards,
• Names and degrees of listed doctors,
• Modus operandi used to deceive the public.

One Death Every Few Months — Yet the System Remains Silent

This is not an isolated case. Locals allege that every few months someone dies due to the negligence of quack doctors. Hospitals are sealed, protests erupt, but within weeks the same centres reopen with new boards and names.

The Biggest Question

Will the lives of poor and innocent patients continue to be sacrificed at the altar of politics, fake signboards and quack doctors?
Or will Priyanka Devi’s death finally force the administration into real and permanent action?
