Bihar to Set Up Export Centers in Every District; Madhubani Paintings, Makhana and Litchi to Be Exported Worldwide in Just 24 Hours

24/11/2025  Anish Srivastava  112 views

Can Bihar’s local products now reach Germany, Japan, and the USA within just 24 hours?
Yes—under the new initiative of the Industries Department, Bihar is preparing for a major transformation in export logistics. The government is setting up Export Units in every district, ensuring that packaging, certification, and documentation are completed locally before products are sent directly to the Bihta Dryport.

From there, the goods will be transported to seaports within 24 hours, drastically cutting export time and cost.

District-Level Export Units to Reduce Time and Cost

Each district will establish a District Export Unit, which will:
✔ Collect product lists from local producers
✔ Inspect packaging and quality
✔ Dispatch goods to Bihta Dryport

Currently, exports from Bihar take 10 to 45 days, but the new system will reduce this time by up to 80%.
Small shipments will be sent via air cargo for even faster delivery.

Local Certification — No More Trips to Kolkata or Lucknow

With new APEDA and Customs Clearance Centers opening in Bihar, exporters will get:
✔ Quality certification
✔ APEDA documentation
✔ Traceability checks
✔ Packaging approval

All within the state itself.
Earlier, exporters had to depend on labs in Kolkata, Lucknow, and Varanasi.

One Block – One Product’ to Boost Local Employment

The Industries Department has launched the “One Block–One Product” initiative:

Muzaffarpur → Litchi Hub

Hajipur → Banana Hub

Madhubani → Madhubani Painting Cluster

Bhagalpur → Silk

Several blocks → Handloom, Bamboo, Stone Craft, Woodwork

This will create block-level branding and generate large-scale local employment.

Bihar’s Products Already Reach 100+ Countries

Bihar’s makhana, silk, and handloom products are already exported to more than 100 countries, including:
USA, Belgium, Russia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Bangladesh.
With new district export units, the export volume is expected to grow significantly.

Bihar Aiming to Become a Major Export State by 2030

Industries Minister Dr. Dilip Jaiswal stated that the government is focusing on logistics efficiency and export expansion. The goal is to make Bihar one of India’s top exporting states by 2030.

This initiative is expected to boost farmers’ income, support artisans, expand local industries, and position Bihar as a major international export hub.
