Begusarai News: STF–Police Encounter Injures Notorious Criminal, Mini Gun Factory Busted

Begusarai News:
In a major anti-crime operation following the appointment of Samrat Choudhary as Bihar’s new Home Minister, a notorious criminal was severely injured during a police encounter in Begusarai on Friday night. The action was carried out jointly by the Special Task Force (STF) and Begusarai District Police, marking one of the most significant crackdowns in recent weeks.

STF Receives Input on Illegal Weapons Network

According to officials, the STF had received intelligence inputs indicating large-scale illegal weapons manufacturing and trading in the riverine (diara) areas under Sahebpur Kamal police station limits. Acting on this information, a special STF team launched a late-night raid in the region.

As the police team reached the hideout, the criminals opened fire in an attempt to flee. The STF and district police retaliated, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire.

Notorious Criminal Shivdutt Rai Injured in Encounter

During the crossfire, the notorious criminal Shivdutt Rai, a resident of Banahara under Teghra police station, sustained bullet injuries. Shivdutt Rai has several criminal cases registered against him and was reportedly involved in illegal arms supply networks active in the diara belt.

Police immediately cordoned off the area, seized the injured criminal, and admitted him to Begusarai Sadar Hospital for treatment. His condition is currently under medical observation.

Mini Gun Factory Unearthed

In a major breakthrough, police discovered an active mini gun manufacturing unit operating in the diara settlement. During the raid, the following items were recovered:

One country-made carbine

Two magazines

Five used cartridges

Two live rounds
Officials believe the seized weapons were part of a larger supply network catering to criminal gangs in and around Begusarai. The presence of a fully functional mini gun factory indicates that the gang had access to skilled fabricators and raw materials, enabling large-scale illegal arms production.

Police Launch Expanded Search Operation

After the encounter, STF and local police continued a large-scale combing operation in the surrounding areas to locate other gang members involved in the illegal arms network. Senior officials confirmed that several potential hideouts have been identified and raids will continue.

Zero Tolerance Against Crime, Says Police

Authorities described the operation as a significant step under the state government’s zero-tolerance policy towards crime. With the Home Department now under Samrat Choudhary’s leadership, police action appears to have intensified, especially in districts like Begusarai which have witnessed rising criminal activity in recent years.

Officials stated that more operations will follow, and strict action will be taken against all those involved in illegal gun manufacturing and trafficking.
